Hope everyone had a fun & safe 4th of July! Sorry for the lack of posts, this past week has been a busy one for me! Started my job at M&M's World in The Florida Mall. I work Monday-Thursday 1-9:30 PM every week. If anyone finds themselves at the mall those times, stop by and say hello!
Monday morning I did my interview for Fox & Friends on Fox News Channel. The interview went great! I'm very thankful to everyone at Fox News for contacting me about my story, and am glad that word is really getting out. If you didn't catch the interview, you can watch it below at the end of the post!
I've also been busy working on a big video for the WDWNT Network. It's their 3rd Anniversary look back, and it's over an hour long! I will link everyone to the video when I'm finished with it.
As usual, walking and swimming everyday! Right now is the perfect time to go swimming, it always feels so refreshing to get in the pool.
Question of the day: What's your favorite (past or present) type of M&M?

Gary from Disney here...you seen the Fun Spot commercial yet? Talk about a work out! This blog and your mission are exciting opportunities, and perhaps you can motivate more Muggles to get fit!
ReplyDeleteFavorite type of M&M in the past was the plain chocolate type. Other than peanut, it was the only other flavor for quite a while! Then came Dark Chocolate M&Ms, my current favorite.
Another thing I would suggest to give yourself more tangibles as far as your daily walking would be some sort of pedometer. Now, being a Nintendo DSi owner, I found (at K-Mart for about $20) a 'lifestyle game' called "Personal Trainer: Walking." With it, you get two pedometers (Sidney can participate too!) and the game itself. It's simple to create a profile, create a Mii (avatar representing you), link your pedometer to your Mii, and just take the pedometer with you each day. Just don't take it swimming, as it's not waterproof -at all.- At the end of each day, you connect the pedometer with the game to see how much you've walked. I've been using it since June, and I'm surprised how much I walk at Disney. You can even set your own step target to reach each day! It really is great, and I haven't missed a day since I got it.
Sorry for the long comment, but if you have a Nintendo DS, DS Lite, or DSi, it's something else you should consider adding to your journey and/or to your blog. I've found that I tend to try and walk more than I normally would just to acheive my step goals. Maybe it can have an effect on your own Three Clicks journey.
Red and green Christmas peanut M&M's!
ReplyDeletePlain red and green Christmas M&M's!
ReplyDeleteI recently tried the pretzel M&M's and they are my new favorites! before that it was definitley peanut!
ReplyDeleteFavorite M&M? I would have to say the new pretzel ones, there pretty good and I am a sucker for the salty & sweet combination.
ReplyDeleteSo how are the meals going? What are you doing in that regard that is working (or not working)? Good job on the walking and swimming every day - keep at it! Before you know it you'll not only be riding on that ride, but you will actually comfortably fit into all theme park rides.
You sound really busy with everything going on right now, but no matter how busy life gets, always make time for yourself to get out and exercise. Sounds like you are doing just that - very cool.

ReplyDeleteHey Banks! Congrats on losing the pounds, and going down a pant size! That's the way you're supposed to do it. We had a great 4th of July. Our family came as well. I've included a link to our YouTube fireworks display. Keep up the good work!
Hi Banks! I am currently doing the same thing as you! I live in Washington State and am going to Orlando to WDW and Universal in December. I read the article about you and other people having a tough time fitting on Harry Potter and got a little freaked out that I may also have trouble fitting.
ReplyDeleteSo, I decided I better do something about it now. So on June 1st I decided to lose 50 pounds by the time we go in December. I started June 1st and am down 20 pounds so far! So this is doable!! If I can do it, you can do it too!
Thanks for the inspiration! Looking forward to reading about your journey since I am on the same one! :)
P.S. Mariogary - does that Nintendo walking thing you talked about work with the Wii? If so, I think I will pick that up and use it! :)
OK, just got back from WWoHP, and here's how I did as far as fitting in the seat in Forbidden Journey.
ReplyDeleteWaist size 42, height 5-10, 235 or so pounds. Former-athlete type build. I had no problem getting 2 clicks by myself, a light push from the worker got me to 3 every time. I'd say if I had a 44 inch waist that would require a sturdy but do-able shove from the worker.
I really loved the peanut butter m&m's they had awhile ago. I wish I could still find them.
ReplyDeleteAww...honey, I wish she hadn't asked you how much weight you've lost so bluntly! You've just started on this journey which will no doubt be successful, but I felt she kind of put you on the spot. Anyway, you are adorable and you handled her probing very well! Your fiancee must be so proud of you!! Keep it up Banks! See you at Wizarding World of Harry Potter sometime!
ReplyDeleteI love the original peanut m&m's and will try the new pretzel ones to see if I'll have a current favourite! m&m's are just great in general...
ReplyDeleteI am so proud of you. You are doing great! I wish I could say the same. I just signed up for the Harry Potter fan trip for next summer and one of the activities is a hike up a hill...after I spent the 4th at the beach with my dog and couldn't make it up a small sand bank without stopping four times I figured it is time. If I'm to get that third click by December, I better start now and then by this time next year I won't get embarrassed to have to stop to breath and hold up the group during the hike.
ReplyDeleteAs for my favorite M&M - it would have to be the dolce de leche. I haven't been able to find them around so I fall back to the peanut ones.
Keep it up and I hope to be, at least, below 200 pounds soon.
I love peanut m&m's!!
ReplyDeleteHi, Don't give up! Keep going! I saw your interview on Fox News and I about flipped out. I thought I was the only one who would ever think of a goal like that. I too been over weight for so many years it's hard too remember otherwise. Last summer I attempted a couple off coaster's at Busch Gardens, VA. Not even close to being able to ride them. So in February after spending 4 days in the hospital I decided it was time to make a change. With getting on those coaster's as the ultimate goal I began my journey. I started at a hefty 396 pounds. I'll leave out the details of how I did it for now but when I arrived at Universal a few weeks back I was at 325 pounds. Couldn't ride the Harry Potter coasters but managed to get on the Hulk in the modified seats. My journey is far from being complete but I've come a long way and I too will ride the coasters!
ReplyDeleteyou are so incredibly awesome! i can't get over what an inspiration and kind hearted person you are. keep up the good work, we are all rooting for you! see you soon at the wizarding world of harry potter dude!
ReplyDeleteHey I just wanted to say as someone who is also trying to loose weight dont put too much stock in the scale, its all about how your clothes fit and how you look. You will be gaining muscle which is slimmer than fat, so you will be going down sizes and not seeing a ton of weight go off as muscle weighs more than fat. Kinda strange but so true! Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog. I have been losing weight over the last year. One of my turning points was getting on a roller coaster and barely getting the bar across my lap. Have you looked at Beachbody products for the workout programs? I've been doing various workouts from them since July 6th last year. I've lost 50 pounds, over 30 inches and 5 pants sizes. The programs are hard but so worth it. Shoot me an email at kimadamsjohnson@yahoo.com if you have any questions. Keep up the great work at losing weight!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on wanting to lose weight. It's a tough job and most people don't realize how difficult it is. Good luck to you and we'll continue to follow your progress.
ReplyDeleteI know you've received tips and suggestions from everyone, but I have one more for you. There is a gentlemen at work who purchased a pair of Sketcher Shape-ups and so far he's lost 35 pounds. He said he's not doing anything else, so he's convinced that it's because of the shoes.
Good luck! Keep us posted.
Hey Banks! How are thinkg going? Haven't heard from you in a little while and I hope things are going good. You are really inspiring a lot of people and you have quite the audience.

Please continue to keep us all posted on how the clicks are coming. My family is planning a trip to Orlando in December, and I am trying to lose enough weight to make sure I can get my three clicks, too. So any information you can give on waist, hip, and chest measurements and what it takes to fit on the ride will be much appreciated! Your candor about your experience has been much obliged thus far.
ReplyDeleteYou are an inspiration and I'm glad I found this blog. I just left the HP ride the other day in tears. Luckily my son and husband thought it was because I had a bag and I could escape and sob alone in the bathroom...and wear shades the rest of the day. I have never felt so sad, ashamed and worthless as I did that day in an amusement park. Paid a lot of money to feel that awful, didn't I? I'm now on my own quest but may resort to bariatric surgery. But don't know that I'll ever return to Universal for my third click. (heck breasts alone get squished!) Hang in there Banks!
ReplyDeleteLove that you are doing something positive and it is catching on.
ReplyDeleteSurprised that you are working at M&M's what a hard job to stay on track. I would be eating them all day! then maybe I wouldn't make any money!!! Gotta keep it all in perspective. :)
So I've been thinking about some of my favorite snacks....
94% FF Microwave popcorn....while it is cooking I crush one hard peppermint candy (practically to dust) when popcorn is done I open the bag quickly and add crushed candy and shake. YUMMMY low cal snack! (you can use any other type like butterscotch) sweet and salty kinda snack.
Pumpkin Cookies! yes cookies! Buy a Spice Cake mix and 2 cups canned Pumpkin. Mix together and bake.... 350ish for 8-10 minutes... just watch them, they will be moist. Your calories are just the cake mix and pumpkin! divide that by how many cookies you make and they are low cal!
Guess this is getting long. Just thought I would share a few things that have helped me shed my weight. KEEP GOING!
I love the peanut and peanut butter M&Ms but never buy them because they are SO bad for you! I let my self indulge about once a year and grab a big bag of peanut ones and savor their delectable deliciousness for a week.
ReplyDeleteI love the peanut butter ones. Luckily the individual bags are hard to find so I don't get tempted by them too often, but yum!
ReplyDeleteSince my trip to the Wizarding World I've lost 6 pounds. Feeling very confident about the return trip in January!
First and foremost, mint chocolate M&Ms are probably the best thing to ever happen to candy.
ReplyDeleteSecondly, I absolutely LOVE your attitude. Way to take something that could have been very negative and instead see it as a challenge. That's awesome! I know that you have now reached your goal, but I hope that you keep on losing weight and being an inspiration to people everywhere! Congratulations!
