Happy Independence Day everyone! I'm gonna spend the day today at a friend's place behind Magic Kingdom from 2 PM till midnight. It's gonna be fun!
So Here is my weigh-in for the month of June. When I started I weighted 311 lbs. As of last night, I weigh 305 lbs. Only lost 6 pounds, but it's still a start! The best news is that my pant size went down! I used to have a size 48 waist, but when I went shopping for some new pants for work, I found a 48 to be a bit big, and ended up getting a size 46! Woo! Slowly but surely!
Tomorrow morning (July 5) I will be a guest on the show Fox and Friends over at the Fox News Channel! I'm gonna be talking all about this blog, how it came to be, and my weight loss. I invite everyone to tune in, it will be at 7:30 AM EST on Fox News Channel.
Hope everyone has a great 4th of July holiday! Have fun and be safe!
Question of the day: What are you doing (or did) for the 4th of July today?

Six pounds is a lot! Go to your pantry and put six one pound cans in a bag and you will see. Way to go! And don't forget to say hello to your mother...
ReplyDeleteSix pounds is great!
ReplyDeleteI am with you on this journey. I don't know if I will be turned away but I have a large chest and need to lose weight so why not use this as an inspiration?

Way to go Banks!
Awesome job! I agree with the first poster. Get out six pounds of something and walk around with it for a while. You'll definitely notice a difference!
ReplyDeleteKeep it up! Work day for Canada tomorrow, but I'll see if I can't PVR the newscast.
Every pound lost is a pound closer to your goal! Congrats and keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteGreat start! Keep up the great job!!! Started on my own journey before reading this blog but using it as inspiration to keep me motivated. I'm with you about wanting to go on that ride! Love Harry Potter and can't wait until I can get down to Florida (once I'm lost enough weight-this trip will be my "prize").
ReplyDeleteGreat job! Every pound, every inch counts! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not doing much today. Hubby works nights so he is currently sound asleep (he got home at 8am) and my 8 month old is taking a nap as well so I am the only one awake! Just sitting here catching up on blogs and eating grapes.
Happy 4th!
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! One thing that has always helped me is just drinking a ton of water... more than 8 glasses ... I try to drink 10-12 bottles of water a day. It helps stimulate your metabolism... And all I did was go to my pastor's house for a bbq and that was fun and fireworks in the neighborhood!
ReplyDeleteGo for the glory! Six pounds is still six pounds. I wish I was losing that much a month, but then I don't exercise much. XD
ReplyDeleteAs for the holiday, I already set off all my fireworks. My mom has to work today, and my brother doesn't care about holidays. Still, I do have some sparklers for when my mom gets home.
Great job, Banks - every pound lost leads to the next! I'm on this journey with you also (found your blog about a week after I began) - I've been needing to lose weight and it finally took Harry Potter/Universal to step up my desire to get it done...now! So far I've lost 7 pounds and would like to lose at least 50 before I get to Universal. I had no problem fitting into any of the seats last time I was there (even if a bit snug), but I freaked out when I read so many posts from people who were being turned away from Forbidden Journey. Wouldn't it be hilarious if there were a sudden drop in the obesity rate within a year of WWOHP opening? Not only did it get the "little" kids reading again, but it got us "old" kids exercising again!
ReplyDeleteWhat I did today: July 4th is also my brother-in-law's birthday so we always have a traditional birthday celebration on Independence Day.
Excellent job! Every little pound counts! Good luck with your journey. I hope you reach your goal in the healthiest manner possible. =D
ReplyDeleteThat's the best way to lose weight and keep it off: do it in small, steady increments. Having to buy smaller clothes is the best reward, in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteSaw you on Fox and Friends this morning...wishing you the very best on your quest to lose the weight and ride the Harry Potter ride!! Take a look at www.sparkpeople.com for some really helpful weight-loss tools.
ReplyDeleteIn a world where most people would have sued after being turned away from a theme-park ride, it's so refreshing to hear that you're motivated to lose weight, not to gain money!
Just saw you on Fox & Friends. You got a great attitude Banks. You seem like a really good dude. I wish you all the best.
ReplyDeleteI saw you on FoxNews this morning and want to wish you continued success!
ReplyDeleteI saw you on Fox News this morning and am excited about your Quest to get fit. I, too, am on a Wellness Journey. Let's do it together!
ReplyDeleteTerri
Just saw you on FOX, great job!
ReplyDeleteI had a similar experience with the Forbidden Journey and want to use it as motivation to lose the weight. Love the personal accountability it is not Universal’s fault it is my fault that I don’t fit into the seats. So keep up the great work and I hope to use your blog as motivation for my journey to the Forbidden Journey.

ReplyDeleteHello Banks, Saw you on Fox on my computer homepage. I am so impressed that you took what could have been a negative and turned it in to a positive for you and your fiance'. I am a Lifestyle and Weight Management coach plus certified fitness instructor. I work with people who have weight problems every day, many of which would have blamed everyone for an embarassing situation instead of making it a motivation to get healthy and fit. Dude I'm gonna turn my clients on to your blog, thanks! Oh, and congrats on the six pounds, keep it up!
ReplyDeleteGreat blog and awesome goal! Sounds like you are determined and will be very successful! Good luck and God Bless!
ReplyDeleteAwesome job......the pants size is the best part....I remember when I could finally take my son on Kraken....BEST day in a long time.....I linked to your site from my blog and added my new 5 Coaster Challenge based on your struggle

GREAT JOB!
ReplyDeleteNothing beats the feeling of a new pair of pants and fitting into sizes you could not have before. Your life will never be the same from here on out.

Great job! Keep it up Banks...you're gonna get there. Good things happen to those who persevere & have patience and a positive attitude. You are one of these people.
ReplyDeleteI just want to wish you all the best. You are inspiring a lot of people. Know that we are all with you every step of the way.
ReplyDeleteBanks- I saw you on Fox on-line (I went there because I wanted to see your interview), and I have to say, I love the new haircut! You keep it up! I hope this brings you more than just a thinner waistline!
ReplyDeleteHey buddy, every pound is something to be proud of, and six pounds is an amazing beginning. I think what you are doing is great, and while you could sit around feeling sorry for yourself like a lot of people, ultimately shedding the weight and achieving your own goals is exactly what will carry you through a lifetime of happiness. Just don't let anybody drag you down or tell you you can't do it. Of course you can! And they could be happy too if they would just do for themselves what you're doing for you! Good luck, and hey, you enjoy every second of that ride - it'll be worth it all!
ReplyDeleteI suggest that your wear your old clothes now and then. People will ask, "hey, you been losing weight?" Now that's encouragement when folks you know notice!
ReplyDeleteHey Banks!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on a solid start! 6 pounds, is 6 pounds closer to your goal! And also remember, since you are exercising, you are also developing muscles so I'm pretty sure you lost more than 6 pounds of fat but gained a few pounds of muscles...
I agree with Sophia - drink lots of water. It will help you feel full and keep your metabolism going. Something I have learned the hard way, don't skip meals and snacks. I, and I'm sure I'm not the only one, used not to make my three meals and snacks a day - and that totally stops any attempts to lose weight. I'm forcing myself to have breakfast soon after I wake up (usually cereal with milk – easy to make!), have a snack (any 100 calories snacks – went to the groceries and purchased a whole bunch of this), then lunch, another snack, dinner and a last snack (usually a weight watchers’ dessert – I have a weakness for sweets and this do keep me satisfied!) at least an hour or two before going to bed and pounds are coming off. I'm trying to exercise every day, but if I'm not able to exercise one day I make sure not to go two days off in a row without exercising – I know myself and if I let it go two day, it will then go on for three days and so on.
Way to go, and can't wait to read that you made it on to the ride!
You are my IDOL. A 6lb loss is still a loss. Keep up the good work, one day at a time. I will keep you in my most positive thoughts and prayers. :)
ReplyDeleteI think that what you are doing is great. You have also inspired me as well. I have been on a weight loss journey for 3 yrs and its still tough. I would like to loose another 20-30 lbs before my trip just to make sure that Harry Potter will not be an issue. Keep up the good work!! 6lbs is wonderful!!!
ReplyDeleteSix pounds is great, and you want to be losing the weight in a healthy way that will make it easier to keep the weight off :) Also, if you're doing a lot of swimming, you might be putting on muscle at the same time as you're losing fat - trust your size more than your weight. I'm so thankful that you're doing this the sane and healthy way and sharing your experiences. In agreement with everybody else here: you are truly an inspiration!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations.
ReplyDeleteI hope you achieve your goal :)
Good Job! 6 pounds is a PERFECT rate of weight loss!!!
